The goal of the North American Thrombosis Forum (NATF) is to focus on unmet needs and issues related to thrombosis and cardiovascular diseases such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), myocardial infarction, peripheral arterial occlusive disease, atrial fibrillation and stroke prevention. NATF achieves this goal by developing educational programs that provide healthcare professionals, patients and the general public with the most up-to-date information and developmental research on thrombosis and cardiovascular disease.

NATF’s April SPAF Program is a comprehensive multidisciplinary program addressing major issues concerning atrial fibrillation, stroke prevention, anticoagulation therapy, and patient education. The course is intended for patients, advocates, physicians, hospitalists, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, and hospital administrators. Lecture presentations and a panel discussion will be led by Drs. Samuel Z. Goldhaber, Gregory Piazza, Christian Ruff, and Julie Shea, RN, RNCS, FHRS, CCDS taking perspectives from clinical research, prevention efforts, educational initiatives, and advocacy. More than 30% of the curriculum is devoted to discussion, questions, and answers. This is a unique educational experience, allowing participants to interact with healthcare professionals who carry out research, provide clinical care, and work on public policy and advocacy issues related to atrial fibrillation and stroke.
